Msgr. Christopher J. Walsh is the fourteenth pastor of St. Joseph Church in Shelton, Connecticut, the mother church for Catholics in Shelton. A resident of Diocese of Bridgeport since his family moved to Bridgeport in 1970, he was named pastor by Bishop William Lori on July 1, 2005. Previously, he served for 13 years in the formation of future priests as vocations director of the Diocese of Bridgeport and spiritual director at St. John Fisher Seminary, Stamford, as well as working for five years as diocesan Communications Director and editor of the Fairfield County Catholic newspaper. He has a doctorate in theology from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and still teaches theology one day a week to seminarians at St. Joseph Seminary (Dunwoodie) in Yonkers, New York. In 2005 he published a book entitled The Untapped Power of the Sacrament of Penance: a Priest’s View, which received two awards from the Catholic Press Association that year.
